The Role

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will lead project teams, oversee technical quality, and act as a key point of contact for clients. This is a senior leadership role focused on delivering innovative electrical engineering solutions while helping to develop and grow the wider electrical team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage electrical design across multiple large-scale building services projects.
  • Oversee and review detailed designs, drawings, calculations, and specifications.
  • Act as the primary technical and commercial interface with clients and stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to engineers at all levels.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and best practices.
  • Coordinate effectively with other disciplines including mechanical, architectural, and structural teams.
  • Drive design quality, continuous improvement, and innovation across the department.
  • Prepare and contribute to fee proposals, bids, and project planning activities.
  • Support business development and represent the company at meetings, presentations, and industry events.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or nearing completion is highly advantageous.
  • Significant experience within a building services consultancy environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK regulations, IET Wiring Regulations, and British Standards.
  • High-level proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Amtech.
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams on complex projects.
  • Excellent communication, client-facing, and leadership skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to contribute to business growth.
