The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take a leading commercial role on a major £50m hotel conversion project in South London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor who is ready to take ownership of a major project and play a key role in its successful delivery.
You will lead the commercial management of the project, working closely with the Project Manager, Design Team, subcontractors and wider project team. You will also have an Assistant Quantity Surveyor reporting into you, giving you the opportunity to develop your leadership and management experience.
This is a role where you will have genuine responsibility and visibility across the project, rather than simply being one of a large commercial team.
Key Responsibilities
- Take lead responsibility for the commercial management of the £50m hotel conversion project.
- Manage and mentor an Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
- Manage project costs, forecasting, cash flow and financial reporting.
- Lead the procurement and commercial management of subcontract packages.
- Prepare and manage tenders, subcontract orders and contract documentation.
- Carry out detailed tender analysis and provide commercial recommendations.
- Manage valuations, payment applications, variations and change control.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
- Monitor project expenditure against budget and forecast final accounts.
About You
We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with strong main contractor experience who is comfortable taking ownership of a significant project.
You should have:
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
- Experience managing projects or packages of significant value.
- The ability to build effective relationships with project teams, clients and subcontractors.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior commercial staff.
- A relevant Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction qualification is desirable.
- Experience within hotel, hospitality, refurbishment, fit-out or complex conversion projects would be highly advantageous.
