Design Manager – Modular Construction

The Company
Our client is a leading modular main contractor delivering projects across the public sector.
They are now looking for an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of education projects under the CF25 Framework.
The Role
As Design Manager, you will take responsibility for managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion. You will coordinate internal design teams, consultants and project stakeholders to ensure designs are compliant, buildable and suitable for modular manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the design process across education projects.

Ensure designs meet CF25 Framework requirements and relevant education-sector design standards.

Manage internal design teams and external consultants.

Ensure designs are suitable for Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and modular manufacturing.

Review drawings, specifications and technical information for accuracy, buildability and compliance.

Interpret and apply UK Building Regulations to modular construction practices.

Ensure projects comply with the Building Safety Act and other relevant legislation.

Coordinate architectural, structural and building-services design information.

Work closely with pre-construction, commercial, manufacturing and site-delivery teams.

Attend design meetings, site visits and client meetings.

Identify design risks and resolve technical issues before they affect manufacturing or construction.

Monitor design programmes, information-release schedules and project deadlines.

Maintain clear communication between the London office, project sites and the Hull factory.
Skills and Experience
-
Previous experience working as a Design Manager within construction.

Experience delivering education-sector or public-sector projects.

Knowledge of education design standards and framework-led projects.

Strong understanding of MMC, off-site manufacturing or modular construction.

Good working knowledge of UK Building Regulations.

Strong understanding of the Building Safety Act.

Experience managing internal design teams and external consultants.

Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and design information.

Strong coordination, communication and problem-solving skills.

Willingness to travel to project sites and the Hull manufacturing facility when required.
