Quantity Surveyor – Planned Works

Location: North West
Sector: Property Services / Social Housing
Contract: Permanent

An established property services contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Site Surveyor to join their Planned Works team in the North West.

The role will be working on a current SHF Wave 3 Retrofit Scheme near Runcorn, providing an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor or commercially focused Site Surveyor with social housing experience to take ownership of the commercial delivery of works on site. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard, working closely with the wider commercial and operational teams. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with a combination of site-based work, home working and time spent at the regional office in Oldham.

The Role

  • Commercially managing planned works across social housing contracts.
  • Managing cost control, valuations and financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Producing and submitting monthly CVRs and progress reports.
  • Managing procurement and subcontractors.
  • Producing external valuations and cash flow forecasts.
  • Working closely with Commercial Managers on budgets, profit plans and final accounts.
  • Attending monthly client progress meetings, both virtually and in person.
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, residents, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Ensuring works are delivered in line with Health & Safety requirements and company processes.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction.

About You

  • A BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience within social housing / housing association planned works.
  • Experience of SHF retrofit works would be highly desirable.
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding, including cost control, valuations and cash flow.
  • Experience managing projects and subcontractors on site.
  • Strong Excel skills and good general IT knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Why Consider It?

This is a great opportunity for a QS, Assistant QS or commercially experienced Site Surveyor looking to work on a major retrofit programme within the social housing sector. You'll have exposure to a high-profile planned works programme, work closely with experienced Commercial Managers and have the flexibility of a hybrid working environment.

If you're based in Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire or North Wales and have a background in planned works, social housing or retrofit, this could be a strong next step.
