Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services Design
A respected building services engineering consultancy in South Croydon is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their expanding team. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects, work closely with clients, and contribute to high-quality, design-led engineering solutions across multiple sectors.
About the Projects
You will be involved in a varied and growing portfolio that includes:
- Luxury and high-spec residential developments
- Commercial fit-outs and office refurbishments
- Industrial and logistics facilities
- Care homes and assisted living schemes
- Education and community buildings
- Mixed-use developments
- Low-carbon, energy-efficient retrofit schemes
These projects offer a mix of new-build and refurbishment work, with a strong focus on technical quality and sustainable engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver detailed electrical design across multiple projects, from concept to handover.
- Produce high-quality drawings, specifications, reports, calculations, and design packages.
- Work closely with architects, mechanical engineers, contractors, and end clients to achieve coordinated design solutions.
- Carry out design duties covering lighting, power, containment, life safety systems, smart technologies, and renewable energy solutions.
- Attend design team meetings, client presentations, and site inspections.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practice.
- Provide guidance to intermediate and junior engineers as needed.
About You
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong consultancy background with proven experience delivering electrical building services design.
- Confident communicator with excellent technical and problem-solving ability.
- Proficient in Amtech/Trimble, Dialux/Relux, AutoCAD; Revit experience is an advantage.
- Understanding of low-carbon design principles, Part L, and modern building services requirements.
- Able to manage projects independently and contribute to a supportive, collaborative team culture.
