Are you an experienced Accounts Assistant with a background in construction? Do you understand the fast-paced, project-driven nature of the industry and enjoy working in a supportive, growing business?
We’re working with a well-established construction contractor based in St Albans that is looking to strengthen its finance team with the appointment of a capable and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy finance function within a construction environment. You’ll play a key role in supporting day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across purchase ledger, subcontractor payments, and general accounts administration.
Key Responsibilities

Processing purchase invoices and reconciling supplier statements

Managing subcontractor payments and CIS processes

Assisting with sales ledger and credit control

Bank reconciliations
-
Supporting month-end procedures

Maintaining accurate financial records

Liaising with suppliers and internal project teams
About You
-
Previous experience working within a construction company (essential)

Strong understanding of CIS and subcontractor payment processes

Experience using SAGE accounting software (highly desirable)

Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Confident communicator with a proactive approach

Comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment
