About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Services Engineering team. The successful candidate will lead the design, delivery, and coordination of electrical building services across a range of healthcare, residential, and commercial projects. This is a key technical role involving project leadership, client interaction, and mentoring junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Delivery

• Lead the design and development of electrical building services, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, containment, ICT systems, LV/HV infrastructure, and emergency systems.
• Produce detailed design calculations, technical specifications, drawings, schedules, and reports.
• Ensure all designs meet relevant regulatory, statutory, and client standards (e.g., BS7671, HTM guidelines for healthcare).
• Conduct site surveys, inspections, and technical reviews to ensure quality and compliance throughout project stages.

Project Leadership

• Manage electrical design delivery across multiple concurrent projects.
• Lead design reviews, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and oversee technical quality.
• Take responsibility for project planning, resourcing, and meeting deadlines.
• Support bid and proposal preparation when required.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as primary point of contact for clients on electrical and building services matters.
• Attend stakeholder meetings, workshops, and presentations to articulate design decisions and project progress.
• Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, contractors, and external consultants.

Team Development & Mentorship

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and intermediate engineers.
• Review work outputs to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality.
• Promote knowledge sharing and best practice within the electrical team.

Skills & Experience Required

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it is highly desirable.
• Significant experience delivering electrical building services within healthcare, residential, and commercial sectors.
• Strong understanding of UK regulations, standards, and building services design processes.
• Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Amtech, Dialux/Relux, Revit, and AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and project management skills.
• Ability to lead projects independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.
