The Opportunity
My client is a premier, privately-owned main contractor renowned for delivering high-spec, complex schemes across Central London. They have built an enviable reputation for excellence in new builds, structural refurbishments, and luxury fit-outs within the commercial, residential, and heritage sectors.
They are currently seeking a commercially astute M&E Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This is a chance to work for a business that treats its staff as individuals, offering a collaborative "one team" culture and a portfolio of landmark projects that truly stand out in the London skyline.
The Role
In this role, you will take commercial ownership of the building services elements on major projects. You will be the lead for M&E packages ranging from £5M to £20M, integrated within larger schemes valued up to £100M.
You will work as a bridge between the site teams and the commercial department, ensuring that the services installations are delivered profitably, on time, and to the highest industry standards.
Key Responsibilities

Commercial Management: Full lifecycle responsibility for M&E budgets, from initial procurement to final account agreement.

Subcontractor Management: Lead the procurement of specialist M&E subcontractors, including tender analysis and contract award.

Reporting: Conduct regular CVRs, manage variations, and provide accurate financial forecasting to the Board.

Problem Solving: Engage in value engineering and early-stage design reviews to identify commercial risks and opportunities.

Liaison: Work closely with MEP Managers and Project Directors to ensure commercial and technical alignment.
Requirements

Experience: A proven track record as an M&E Quantity Surveyor, ideally within a main contracting environment.

Project History: Experience managing M&E packages of at least £5M+.

Technical Savvy: A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and their associated costs.

Communication: Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to build long-term relationships with a high-end supply chain.
