Skilled Careers is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Electrical Shift Lead Engineer to join a leading FM service provider at a prestigious commercial office building near Liverpool Street, London. This is a permanent role offering continental shifts (days & nights) and a competitive salary of up to £58,000, depending on experience.

?? Role Overview

As the Shift Lead, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the engineering team during your shift, ensuring all planned and reactive maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll act as the primary point of contact for site management, contractors, and clients, while maintaining compliance and safety across all building systems.

  • Location: Liverpool Street, London (Zone 1)
  • Salary: Up to £58,000 per annum
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Shift Pattern: Continental (4 on, 4 off – rotating days & nights)
  • Hours: 07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00
  • Start Date: Immediate

??? Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of engineers during shift operations
  • Allocate tasks and ensure timely completion of PPM and reactive works
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for electrical systems
  • Conduct emergency lighting tests, fault-finding, and control panel maintenance
  • Monitor and respond to BMS alerts for HVAC and critical systems
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and statutory regulations
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, reports, and shift handovers
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and site management to resolve issues
  • Support training and development of junior engineers
  • Escalate major faults and coordinate emergency response procedures

?? Candidate Requirements

  • City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 in Electrical Installations
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential)
  • Proven experience in commercial building maintenance
  • Previous supervisory or lead engineer experience (desirable)
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Ability to manage workloads and prioritise tasks under pressure
  • Must be able to provide copies of relevant trade certificates
