We have a great opportunity for a Planning Manager to join a well-known Developer/Main contractor. This is an exciting time to join as they are extending their business therefore you will be responsible for leading on projects in the South East, supported by our Senior Planning Manager.

As a key player in the development process, you will lead on all matters of planning from early site feasibility studies working with the land team to inform acquisition, through to overseeing the planning process and seeing the site through to delivery working with our delivery and production teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and assistance to the Land Team in preparation of initial site appraisals and informing early designs from a planning perspective
  • Provide planning appraisals/risk assessments for initial development proposals
  • Providing strategic oversight on planning matters for bids and tenders in the South East.
  • Working with development and technical team colleagues, you will lead the design team and manage the design development of high-quality proposals, identifying areas to optimise value from a planning perspective;
  • On the administrative side manage the appointment of consultants and their scope of work including managing fee budgets and programmes to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Managing invoicing approvals.
  • Ensure the planning process is strategically managed to the best of your ability. Reporting on progress regularly through relevant reporting structures and meetings and resolving planning issues in order to achieve approval.
  • Managing the relationship with the local planning authority taking responsibility for any strategic meetings with senior council representatives.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of planning applications and the production of presentation material for planning committees.
  • Negotiate any planning conditions, Section 106 agreements and associated obligations.
  • Take responsibility for the tracking of obligations and conditions to be discharged working with colleagues in the delivery and production teams.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • MRTPI qualified or equivalent
  • Ideally 3-5 years post qualification experience
  • Client-side experience is preferable but not essential
  • Residential and mixed-use development experience required
  • Good knowledge of the planning system, process and policies is essential
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
