Plant Manager – Birmingham Based –  Salary Negotiable with excellent Benefits

 

Skilled Careers are currently recruiting for a Plant Manager on behalf of one of our clients. This role will be based on a new build Energy from waste plant. Electricity will be created via the oxidization of recycled wood to create the 10MW energy. The right candidate will be responsible of the day to day running of the plant and will report directly to the Regional Director. The Regional Director visits on average once every two weeks, so you will be the local point of call.

 

Duties: (not limited to)

  • Responsible for health and Safety
  • Management of environmental permits
  • Assisting with Technical support for maintenance departments and operative.
  • Ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards within health and safety regulations
  • Planning operations shift rotas
  • Routine maintenance
  • P&L Budget and management
  • PPM schedules and implementing best practices of maintenance related works
  • Working with the client and advisors and engineers to develop the plants modifications and improvements
  • Manage and plan maintenance changes of major plant products
  • Ensure all reporting obligations are met, H&S, Environmental, Statutory and regulatory
  • Ensure the plant is operating within budget

 

Qualifications and experience:

  • A full UK Driving Licence
  • HND/HND or equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in an engineering position at either a energy from waste plant or power generation facility.
  • Excellent communication written and verbal
  • Ability to keep level headed under pressure
  • Previous experience of working with SSOW (Safe Systems of Work) and permit-to-work systems.
  • People management
  • Previous experience of  testing, repair, maintenance and root cause analysis of all electrical equipment found within a modern-day energy from waste plant. (Including switchgear, motors, transformers, fuel handling and HV/LV plant.)
  • Previous track record of management experience and managing change
